The Main Two Roulette Wheel Types
For one to be a good player and to increase chances of winning the Roulette games, a sound knowledge of the Roulette wheel can not be compromised at all. There are two most common Roulette wheel types- the European wheel and the American wheel. The differences between these two wheel types are not so immense.
The European Roulette wheel
This type of roulette wheel has 37 numbers. These are 1 through to 36 and a "0". The European roulette wheels have got alternating odd and even numbers displayed in alternating red and black colours. The zeros at the opposite ends of each wheel are in green colour. The wheel has 37 pockets numbered in an unordered format. Half of the numbers are in a red background whilst the other half has a black background. The number ordering on the roulette wheel stick to the clockwise sequence below:
European Wheel Number Sequence: 0-32-15-19-4-21-2-25-17-34-6-27-13-36-11-30-8-23-10-5-24-16, 33-1-20-14-31-9-22-18-29-7-28-12-35-3-26
The American Roulette wheel
The American Roulette wheel has 38 numbers. It has numbers 1 up to 36 and a 0 and a 00 (double zero). This roulette wheel type has got alternating odd and even numbers displayed in alternating red and black. The zeros at the opposite ends of each wheel are in green colour. The numbering sequence of the American wheel is as shown below:
American wheel Number sequence: 0-28-9-26-30-11-7-20-32-17-5-22-34-15-3-24-36-13-1, 00-27-10-25-29-12-8-19-31-18-6-21-33-16-4-23-35-14-2
Comparison of American and European Wheel
Despite the fact that the Europen Roulette wheel is common in the United States Casinos and the European Roulette wheel common in Europe, the American Wheel is a roulette wheel with a total of 38 numbers on it. This is opposed to a European roulette wheel which has just 37 numbers (one less than the American) on it. The American wheel has got the 00 which is not found on the European wheel. It is because of this difference that the American wheel allows for the 5 number bets.
The European wheel is just like the American wheel, with the exception that there is the absence of the 00 found on the American Wheel. This difference then means that the odds of winning are slightly higher with the European Wheel than the American Roulette wheel. As the name wheel suggests, both these wheels like a wheel are circular.
The house advantage on a single zero roulette wheel is 2.7% whilst on a double zero wheel its 5.26%. This home advantage is acquired by paying the Roulette winners a chip or two less than what they should receive without the advantage.
